It has extensively debated Vitamin D supplementation linking emerging research with Covid-19 outcomes. Research also shows that people who are deficient in that vitamin are at increased risk of getting and dying from Covid-19.

Many health professionals recommend Vitamin D to support immunity against Covid-19, although the data keeping the correlation is still at the early stage. Perhaps it will take years to a full conclusion, and we can’t wait that long for it to happen.

We often relate vitamin D deficiency to obese, dark-skinned and diabetic patients. It plays an important in bone health, cell health and the immune function in our body.

The amount of Vitamin D needed varies on an individual. Who you are, where you live, your diet, lifestyle and health concerns all factors into your individual vitamin needs. During the Covid-19 and the long winter season, people may also stay indoors more often. Means less sunlight exposure, which is a critical activation mode for the precursor to produce natural Vitamin D in our body, because diet alone is not enough.

As more recent evidence of clinical trials of outcomes is underway, Vitamin D will continue to attract more attention.

Living in sunny (not!) England, vitamin D3 was a must always, even before covid. In a way, I believe it helped me to go through it and survive.

This supplement has been one of my intake since I am staying at home more than before. Less outdoor means less sun exposure, thus less Vitamin D3 production.

It is strange as even in Australia we have Vit D deficiency due to an effective sunscreen program… I take my vitamin D 20 mins a day in the morning under the sun (when its about in not so sunny Tasmania)… then I put my sunscreen on…
