Updated: March 17, 2022 – Transitional Period of Post Lock Down
Estimated reading time: 4 minutes
Offices in Jakarta reopened in June 2020 as the capital city entered a transition period to relax large-scale social restrictions. I am embracing the new normal in the office. The company applies strict health protocol in the office as it reopens today. Security guards checked every person’s temperature and practise proper sanitation before entering the premises.
Inside the office, staff must maintain a safe physical distance from each other. Masks are required to be worn at all times during working hours. Staff desk allocation, lunch breaks, working hours, prayer protocols, employees’ capacity were all rearranged under this new normal.
This pandemic has definitely changed the way we work, communicate, travel and doing business.
5 Tips for Embracing Change in the Workplace:
Accept the new normal—learn to let go of the old protocol
Maintain a positive inner dialogue—think more about the possibility than the impossibility
Rework my goals and set out to achieve them because new setup goals can bring a wonderful new mind shift that helps to direct my energy
Take charge of my own actions—learn to focus on a specific task
Avoid isolating myself—start reaching out to others in both my professional and personal network during this time of change.
In this transitional period of post lockdown, the most important factor in mind is that as my surrounding (professional and otherwise) are capable of change, so am I. The evolution of circumstances is not an only external process, as human beings are capable of incredible feats, which includes the amazing internal ability to change, learn, and adapt at will, with this transitional period of post lockdown.
However, things went into lockdown many times in 2020 and 2021. More cases emerged and now we have headed towards vaccine availability.
Every country now is trying to vaccinate their people as many as possible to reach herd immunity. Covid-19 went into mutation and now there is a new Delta Variant strain we need to face. It is more deadly and spread faster than the previous. It hit Asia. Cases have been increasing at an alarming rate. We can see many countries into lockdown during the Summer of 2021. The postponed Olympic 2021 Tokyo is facing a lot of challenges as well. This time, the event is being held differently compared to the previous ones throughout Olympic history.
I hope things will get better by 2022.

We have been thru a strenuous couple of years and are relieved to see that all mandates are off, masks are off and we can start living our life back to semi-normal.
