Bandung Vintage Feel

As I walked through to the cosy tropical garden with its lovely vintage feel, my glorious feeling is coming. It’s been days that my creative writing has been stalled. I need inspiration energy. I was excited not only to be visiting ‘Rumah Lereng Bandung’ for the first time, but also to be staying in the cosy cottage in Bandung. It was a trip I will never forget, and I knew that when it was time to sit down and begin writing the story, the words would flow with ease.

Behind the dining area, which were few other rooms with wooden floorboards, had a laid-back, mellow vibe. I took room number two. The relaxed decor held a touch of that serenity and tranquility. Not only the retro-style Javanese bed decorated batik bedsheet covers with richly crafted legs were arranged against the wall., but a great solid rustic wooden feel of the cupboard adds the authenticity of the room.

‘Sir, I will serve you breakfast at 7 am tomorrow.’

‘There is a swimming pool on the far right. This place has actually been open for almost a decade. As you can see, it boasts an ornate terracotta facade with rich wood crafting, typical of high Javanese architecture, and the dense forest makes for a stunning backdrop for outside photos. Please help yourself and make this like your home. Enjoy your stay, sir.’

A Pleasant Evening

I smiled and nodded because, if I’m being honest, I do not know what any of that means. It is a lovely house though, surrounded by extensive gardens full of flowers, two beautiful gorgeous cats which always want companionship from visitors, and trees in all directions. It’s hard to believe I am so close to the city, and impossible not to get carried away taking gigabytes of worth of photos and videos with the nature.

That evening was just so peaceful. Caressing the batik bedsheet as I look out on the verandah – the smell of great forest. This place is a veritable paradise. It’s close to some glorious countryside. So. I like to unwind by getting outdoors at the weekends. There’s nothing like fresh air and being in Bandung to recharge after an extremely long lockdown year. I quickly dozed off to sleep.

New Beginning

The sun poured through my window. Another day had dawned crisp and clear, bringing with it new hopes and aspirations. I took a sip of the rich Coffee Tubruk and signed with pleasure. This was heaven and I have just the thing to round off the experience perfectly: my Kindle. A book, a cup of coffee, a forest, and nothing else to do.

With that, I took another good sip of coffee and settled into the sofa bed to read. The coffee was so good that when the polite helper came by with the Indonesian fried rice to offer another cup, I instantly accepted without a second thought.

A Perfect Ten on the Cosy Cottage

I smiled – well, half smile, half wince. It’s time to leave this beautiful place, but I’ll be back soon. A perfect ten review in the cosy cottage in Bandung.
