If you are a builder or doing developments, and that’s your angle on the property in the UK; then this is good news for you because there are going to be more things that you can do without requiring planning permission.

So includes in there, is converting commercial premises to residential; or going to be more commercial premises can now convert without needing planning.

If you want to demolish old buildings and replace them with new homes; you will not need normal planning permission.

If you want to extend or add extra floors, there will be a fast-track process apparently to do that.

And the general idea is to get more buildings happening and make it easier to do that on brownfield sites. So you don’t need to minimise the amount of greenfield land that’s going to get used.

Apparently, this all going to come by September 2020. This seems good news for investors because there will go to be more development opportunities open up or at least easier.

National Planning Policy Framework is predominantly for England and would differ slightly from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland (Please check out the details for each local government).
