Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

My graduation day was getting closer. I was walking in the department store with high spirit searching for the perfect attire to match with the graduation gown; because I felt a little overwhelmed by everything going on. However, by keeping a few key things in mind as I prepared to graduate, I handled the occasion with ease and success.

29th July 2001, I took the Veterinarian’s Oath with all my classmates with full of emotions in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Main Hall. That was the day that Registrar of Malaysian Veterinary Council qualified us as a veterinary professional.

The event went successfully with the photographs session, tossing of the cap, family lunch all happened in a day. And at home, I finally got my photo session time with my dog, Jackie. He was waiting for me the whole.

Since 19 years ago, I am the veterinarian of essential drivers for animal production, especially in the poultry industry. Healthy animals mean healthy food. Farmers see us as the principal reference for animal health.

Therefore, I need to increase awareness for the correct use of antibiotics, as a preventive approach requires behavioural and mentality changes. For some, this might be a challenging task! Build a partnership and try to understand the needs of the farmer to assist him in his transformation.

Let’s Celebrate Graduation Party

When the farmer does not want to change his way of working; we try to create awareness about the danger of using antibiotics, stress on antibiotic resistance and reaction to human health.

When the farmer has the intention to change his way of working; we try to educate farmers on how to change, educate them on how to prevent diseases and support farmers who have made a change.

And now, with a team of 30 veterinarians in our leadership program; we shall continue to educate and provide support to the farmers throughout the whole Archipelago of Indonesia.
