The love of animals has been in me since childhood. People think is crazy talking to them, but these wise creatures sensed my responses. Veterinary Medicine was my first choice when I enrolled for my degree at the University of Putra Malaysia back then in 1997. Enjoyed my time the most during these 5 years of studies.
Now after being a veterinarian in the field for 19 years and in the management level for controlling and overseeing the entire Veterinary Department, develop goals, strategic plans, company policies, and making contributions on company’s direction of the business, makes me love my profession more than ever.
After graduating in 2001, I was a newbie to the working world. Lack of knowledge, lack of money, lack of confidence, lack of an established track record, fear, self-doubt, and no power team in place.
I have overcome these. Perhaps the only thing on that list that I had was a positive mindset and the determination to succeed because I have always been a positive thinker. Besides that, I love problem-solving and often take up any challenge. I let nothing get me down.
Even though things could get really tough, I kept going. I learned from my mistakes, and other people, and I get better each time. And now making sure that I don’t repeat the mistakes that I made.
Think. What is stopping you from getting started? We can find money, we can leverage time, we can learn knowledge, we can gain confidence, we can borrow a track record, we can mitigate risk, we can reduce fear, we can source a power team, we can change a mindset, we can squash self-doubt, and we can ignore the negs.
You Don’t Need a Better Phone, Home or Circumstances.
You Need a Better Mindset.
As the industry develops quickly based on the government’s policies, staying current is the key. However,
Veterinary Medicine can be a stressful career choice. It is highly emotional and very rewarding at other times. Veterinarian is just a perfect profession for me!
The continuing Covid-19 pandemic has changed life as we know it and significantly affected the global human and animal populations.
And yet, through this challenging time, veterinary medicine meaningfully and rapidly grew, demonstrating veterinarians’ ability to cope, adjust, and adapt; and continue to their role as leaders of animal health, welfare, and public health.
