Best Kept Secret
Are you a disciple of depth in a shallow world? Because most importantly, Indonesia’s best kept secret—Karimunjawa Island has it all.
Meanwhile, as I stared across the sunny horizon, my short weekend getaway mood felt the air as I thought about slipping through the long and wide Jetty Kartini into the blue green water.
I have been hearing about Karimunjawa Island, a small hidden paradise island north of Semarang off the coast of central Java since I came to Indonesia 7 years ago. Besides, Karimunjawa literally means ‘a stone is thrown’ from Java in Javanese.
I have been visualizing Karimunjawa where it fits into my story of escape holiday opportunity because the deeper I give in thinking associated with my emotion to this desire, the closer I get to reality. Likewise, we are all the masters of each moment.
The Lokatara Beachfront Stay
I stayed a night at Lokatara Beachfront, Jepara before heading to Pelabuhan Kartini the following day to Karimunjawa Island. The following day, ‘Express Bahari’ ticket cost me Rp 165.000 with the requirement of Covid Antigen Swab result, which I did in one of the local hospital in Kudus.
Besides having a relaxing evening alongside with the book ‘Deep Work’ by Cal Newport, the environment provides me the ability to focus without distraction and go deep into my work and writing—How peaceful.
The Beginning of My Wonderful Journey
About 2.5 hours’ journey finally I’ve reached the enchanted island at 1230, and Mas Anggoro took care of my entire trip there. Subsequently, I had my lunch and off we headed off to the sea adventures.
Snorkeling activities were so beautiful and amazing—A totally different world below the blue sea.
The Love Hill
The following day Mas Anggoro took me to the Bukit Love, and it was just breathtaking.
The Best Kept Secret
2 days 1 night was just perfect for my ‘mini-retirement session’, which I wanted so badly for this weekend break. So definitely I had it all—peace. To sum up, the Indonesia’s best kept secret Karimunjawa Island.
